ABOUT CHIMTECH

About ChimTech — Brian Levi, Founder, and the Minneapolis Crew

Brian Levi founded ChimTech in Minneapolis with a 10-person crew and no subcontracting. Every job is performed by the same team — no day-labor fill-ins, no regional routing.
WHO WE ARE

A Crew That Stays Accountable

ChimTech is a Minneapolis chimney company — ten people, one city, every service performed by the same crew.
“I’m Brian Levi, the founder. ChimTech handles chimney cleaning, inspection, repair, waterproofing, relining, installation, and restoration, and we serve Minneapolis exclusively. When you call, you reach the same crew that shows up at your door — there’s no call center forwarding your job to whoever is closest that week. This is a Minneapolis operation, rooted in Minneapolis properties and the specific conditions they face every winter.”

THE REASON

Why I Started ChimTech in Minneapolis

I started ChimTech in 2026 because Minneapolis homes needed a chimney company that stayed reachable after the first visit.
Here’s what I kept seeing. A homeowner books a cleaning, the crew does the job and leaves, and then a follow-up question comes up — something from the inspection report, a new symptom, a permit question. They call back and get a different person. Or no one. Or a voicemail that sits for three days. That pattern doesn’t work for a fire system, and it doesn’t work for a service that touches the structural masonry of an older Minneapolis home.
I built ChimTech around the opposite idea. Minneapolis has a long heating season, severe freeze-thaw cycling every winter, and a housing stock full of pre-1960 chimneys built with materials and methods that require era-matched repairs. ChimTech exists to handle all of that — and to stay accountable when it does.

“Same crew. Same contact number. Same email address. If something comes up after a visit, you call or write to the same team that was on your roof. That’s the entire premise.”

A Founder Who Has Worked Minneapolis Chimneys Directly

Ten people work every ChimTech job in Minneapolis — the same ten people, on every visit.
No subcontracting, and no day-labor fill-ins when the schedule gets heavy. If we’re booked, we tell you when we can get there — we don’t fill the gap with people I haven’t trained and can’t reach after they leave. Crew accountability means the homeowner knows who did the work and can reach those people for follow-up. That’s an operational decision, not a marketing statement.
I’ve worked chimneys across Minneapolis personally — the clay-lined stacks in Linden Hills bungalows near 44th and Upton, the brick foursquares in Longfellow along 38th Street, the older two-flue systems in Kenwood near Lake of the Isles. The failure patterns in a 1922 craftsman in Seward (55406) aren’t the same as a 1950s brick colonial in Fulton (55410), and that geographic familiarity shapes how every job gets scoped before a tool comes out of the truck.
Every visit produces a written record — what the crew found, what was done, and what needs attention next time — delivered at job close, not days later. It becomes a permanent reference tied to the property, useful for insurance documentation, ownership transfers, and giving any future inspector a real baseline rather than guesswork.
STRAIGHT ON CREDENTIALS

What ChimTech Does and Does Not Claim

ChimTech operates under Minneapolis building codes and follows NFPA 211 standards on every inspection.
I’ll be direct: ChimTech does not currently hold independent chimney-specific certifications — CSIA, NFI, or others — and I’m not going to list credentials that don’t exist. What ChimTech has is a 10-person crew working Minneapolis chimneys under a founder who built the company’s operating standards from the ground up, with documentation and material standards applied on every job.

Minnesota contractor license #BC796341 — a verifiable state credential.

General liability insurance — homeowners can request confirmation of coverage before any work begins.

Minneapolis building permits filed for all code-required work — liner installs, fireplace construction, removal — with city inspection scheduled and the passed inspection record delivered at close-out.

NFPA 211 standards followed on every inspection, under Minneapolis building codes; permit history is a verifiable, city-held record that travels with the home.

HOW WE WORK A JOB

Consistent Field Standards on Every Visit

Cleaning, repair, or full restoration — the crew follows the same standards.

Written condition documentation on all accessible components — including findings the homeowner didn't ask about.

Top-down work sequencing — structural issues addressed before waterproofing, waterproofing before cosmetic work.

Era-matched materials on older Minneapolis homes — lime joints receive a lime-matched repair, not Portland cement over-tuck.

Substrate verification before any sealer or adhesive — no product goes onto a surface that hasn't passed the pre-application check.

Permit filing for all Minneapolis code-required work, with city inspection scheduled as part of close-out.

The core commitment underneath all of it: a written record of every visit — findings, work performed, and anything flagged for follow-up — delivered to you at job close, not a verbal summary at the door. The same crew handles follow-up, at the same number, with no hand-offs to a different team.
